After treating and drying, the strips are ready to be joined in several ways to make the final product. By increasing the temperature and pressure during the steam treatment a warm brown colour appears we call caramel. By treating bamboo with steam, the light brown colour becomes more intense and the yellow shade disappears, we call this Ecru.

After harvesting, the Moso bamboo stems are split and the outer skin is removed. This means the bamboo can be used without destroying the forest. The bamboo stems grow from an underground root system and after 5 years a stem can be harvested, while the others continue to grow. MOSO products have been specified and installed in many large-scale international projects, including applications which involve intensive, innovative and detail-orientated research and development for custom solutions.Īn example of this is the renovation of Terminal 4 of the well-known Madrid–Barajas Airport the dynamic, curved ceiling designed by Richard Rogers is MOSO’s most expansive bamboo project to date with an area of 200 000m2 of curved bamboo slats.Īnother incredible achievement is our Ultra-Density flooring, developed and manufactured for the French railway stations, one such installation is in its third year at Gare du Nord in Paris which has foot traffic of almost 200 million annually.įor this project, they needed a material that was warm and inviting while coping with high impact, intense and abrasive foot traffic and weathering high fluctuations in temperature and humidity.Moso bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on earth. MOSO’s range of engineered bamboo flooring is certainly impressive, but the continually growing product offering goes far beyond flooring and includes beams, panels and veneers as well as exterior decking and cladding solutions. If function alone isn’t convincing, MOSO has a growing variety of aesthetically pleasing finishes that cater to residential and commercial projects, classic and contemporary spaces alike.

Not only are MOSO’s products competitive when compared to quality timber flooring, but all MOSO products are independently tested and certified to European standards, and carry warranties of up to 30 years. Taking into account the various ways bamboo can be processed to manufacture highly technical products, bamboo is not only extremely versatile but is also a surprisingly affordable alternative to traditional wood floors. With natural, greener materials in increasingly high demand, bamboo comes to the party with the versatility that is hard to compete with. Unlike most stone and ceramic products, MOSO bamboo flooring can be re-finished over time in similar ways to traditional timber. MOSO prides itself on having a bamboo flooring product suitable for almost any application where a “timber” floor may be desired including applications in extremely hot, dry or cold climates and high traffic conditions where timber would not fare well. MOSO has taken incredible pride in forging the path for far more stable, durable and versatile products with a more extensive range of products than any other bamboo supplier. With technological advances and ongoing development – a strong ethos within MOSO International – MOSO bamboo products are superior in quality to most other bamboo products on the market, as well as being harder and more stable than many competing timber products. MOSO International was one of the pioneers of bamboo product development in Europe and has grown to become the world leader in engineered bamboo products, both in terms of range and quality.

In the context of bamboo – grass, this satisfies the human need to harmoniously connect with nature.īamboo products in the ’90s gained a somewhat bad reputation, sometimes justifiably, due to a combination of poor quality manufacturing, a lack of understanding of the products, and sub-standard installation. The warm textures and tones are far more representative of wood. We are drawn towards nature in big and small ways often displaying in our love for more timeless, character-filled finishes. Our human propensity for these natural materials – cooler in summer and warmer in winter – is not difficult to grasp.
